The Adventures of Hal the Sweater Monster (Episode 4: Road Trip To the Poconos)

 We stopped at Sonic in Binghamton, NY...the closest Sonic to us...3 hours away from Rochester.

(Sonic has a childhood nostalgia for me.  When my family lived in Kansas when I was a kid, Dad would always take us to Sonic.  They really need to build one in Rochester or Buffalo.)

On Rt 80, we ran into a traffic jam caused by construction that must have added another hour to our 5 hour drive to Stroudsburg, PA. 

Luna was even bored.

But we finally made it to the log cabin style house we are renting for the week with my parents and their friends!  It's a very nice place!  I'll have to post more pictures later, even though pictures don't seem to quite do it justice.  The pictures I saw online didn't prepare me for how nice it was. (BTW: My "good" Sony camera DID come in the mail on Thursday...all repaired!)

Stoneybrook 2010

CJ had the past week off for vacation. We hadn't really planned anything as far as going away anywhere, so we did a "stay-cation" and just took a couple day trips together. Wednesday, we went to Stoneybrook State Park in Dansville, NY.

Notice that Luna does not look particularly interested in following me to the water.

Whatever...I LOVE the water! My mom tells me that I could literally swim before I could walk. Even though the water was pretty chilly, I could have stayed there most of the day!

Luna, however, is not a huge fan of getting wet. She can swim, but she just doesn't prefer it if she can help it. That doesn't stop us from trying though! (I know what some of you are thinking..."Poor puppy! Your mean owners made you get wet!")

I think she still loves us anyway!

4 Year Anniversary!

Sorry for the lack of blogging this week. CJ took a vacation week and was home all week, and when he's home, I tend to want to spend time with him...so I was barely on the computer at all. The reason CJ took vacation was that Thursday, June 10th was our 4 year anniversary! Wow...I've been a married woman for 4 years! Can you believe it? At the risk of sounding cliche`... It feels like it was just yesterday!

We didn't "go" anywhere (as in...go out of town), but we relaxed at home and spread the fun out over the week. We went to the local drive in theater TWICE...once Wednesday night and once Friday night. I love the drive-in. Two movies for the price of one, we get to bring in our own snacks (but the snack bar is pretty reasonable!) and we get to bring the dog! We saw Prince of Persia" and "Iron Man 2" on Wednesday, and "Marmaduke" and Shrek Forever After" on Friday. The first movie last night made me want to hug my dog, the second movie made me want to hug (and kiss!) my husband!

On Thursday we went out to dinner at Applebee's...because I LOVE Applebee's! Give me their Oriental Chicken Wrap with the Triple Chocolate Meltdown for dessert and I'm a happy girl!

Mmmmmmm...Triple Chocolate Meltdown... (ie: Lava Cake!)...
